Every rally spotlighted outstanding veterans' programs that work to get homeless veterans off the streets and
back into society where they belong. There are as many as 300,000 homeless veterans on our streets tonight and the Department
of Veterans Affairs only provides 10,000 beds. The vast majority of work to help homeless veterans is done by the 300 non-profit
transitional facilities across the country. Over the years the Circle of Friends for American Veterans and the Center for Homeless
Veterans has had the pleasure of working with some of the most respected and renouned programs in the nation. Pictured above is
Tyrone Chatman, Associate Executive Director of the Michigan Veterans Foundation. Tyrone, a decorated Vietnam veteran, has
received numerous awards for his efforts to address the needs of veterans in the Detroit area.
