The Veterans' Bill of Rights, sponsored by the Circle of Friends for American
Veterans, will vastly improve the lives of homeless American Veterans and help prevent
our returning troops from Iraq and Afghanistan from ever facing the streets.
1.) Do you support raising the Veterans’ Administration (VA)
per diem for private, non-profit transitional facilities from the current maximum of $30
a day per bed (typically, they receive only $27), to $60 daily so that direct support
for homeless veterans increases from under 1/10th of 1% to under 2/10th of 1% of the total
Veterans’ Administration budget?
2.) Do you support making counseling services available for Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) in every VA Veterans’ Center in America, with adequate staffs,
so that all veterans who served in a war zone can get the help they need?
3.) Given the sacrifices our veterans have made and will continue to make for
this country, do you agree with the general philosophy of 'Putting Veterans First," that is,
veterans should be a top priority for the Congress and in our public policy.
We will present the Veterans’ Bill of Rights to all Members of Congress and all candidates for
federal office. All officeholders and candidates responses will be listed as: 1.) Yes; 2.) No or 3.)
No response.
Results of the survey will be posted on the website of the Circle of Friends for American Veterans
(www.vetsvision.org), will be cited in news releases and in media interviews, announced at all city
rallies, as well as published in the nationwide VETERANS’ VISION publication.
The Circle of Friends for American Veterans is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization dedicated to
American Veterans and to raising awareness of the problems and solutions to veterans’ homelessness.
Since 1993, the Circle of Friends has conducted dozens of city rallies across the nation, allowing
the leaders of our country to explain what they will do for veterans, especially homeless veterans.
Additionally, the Circle of Friends has conducted over 150 receptions/forums with important
decision-makers from Congress and the Department of Defense.
